DIFFICULTY: LOW, APPROPRIATE SHOES AND CLOTHING, SUN PROTECTION, WATER

The volcano Chinyero is situated within the northwest rift of the island at 1.560 meter altitude. His eruption process started the 18th of November in 1909 and finished the 27th of same month. Reining weather conditions had the wind blowing northward, carrying lighter piroclasts till Punta de Hidalgo. Lava pouring downhill in two parts, first separated by the mountain Montaña de La Cruz and further down by the Montaña de Bilma, being a threat to the town Santiago del Teide, which was finally saved by the intervention of the local patron saint.
Chinyero is now visited by tourists and friends of hiking on an easy accessible path.
A hike of about two hours leads around the volcano and shows a young, somewhat special landscape.
